King Los has a new musical home. The rapper announced Oct. 23 that he has inked a new deal with RCA Records. Los departed Bad Boy Records early this year after his album stalled; it was the second attempt at making things work over at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ label. But despite parting ways with the label, the rapper explained to Ebro of Hot 97 that Diddy will still play a major part on his album.
“We have my OG – Puff Daddy – who is executive producing,” said Los. “That’s like big bro. We’re tight, like really, really close. … That guy’s around, and he wants to be very instrumental in the shaping and molding of what I do. And make sure it stays legendary.”
Los released his Zero Gravity 2 mixtape back in March. He’s hard at work on his official studio debut, with the new RCA deal apparently galvanizing that album’s momentum. The deal was also a distribution contract for Los’ Platinum imprint.
“Platinum and RCA coming together is history in the making,” Los said. “This is an incredible home for us, and the perfect platform for us to reach the next level.”
“It was very important to us that we join a team whose goals for Los’ career aligned with ours,” added Platinum CEO Ernie Romero. “RCA gets it. We’ve spent years getting to this point, and we look forward to taking his career to new heights alongside RCA.”
King Los’ debut album is due in 2015.
