Chicago’s political frosh-soph team: Part 1

Representative Robin Kelly, Illinois 2nd Congressional District

Congresswoman Robin Kelly, who represents Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District, is no stranger to public service. Before winning the special election to fill the seat vacated by Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., Mrs. Kelly served as the chief administrative officer of Cook County and, before that, was the chief of staff to former IL State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias.

Since being in office, Kelly has worked tirelessly to promote national safety and expand economic opportunity, sponsoring numerous bills to generate job growth and end senseless gun violence.  Kelly’s first legislation, Improving Gun Safety Standards Act, a common sense reform bill, would allow the Consumer Product Safety Commission to issue safety standards for guns and ammunition that will help reduce gun-related deaths.
