‘Preachers of L.A.’ best moments of episode 12

Ron’s Gang Summit
As he has been alluding to for the past few episodes, Ron goes back to his former stomping grounds, the infamous Imperial Courts projects in Watts. It’s finally the day for the big Gang Summit and Ron is pumped. He’s planned a protest march, and a community conference afterwards to reach out to the community and serve as an example. Ron gets a little help from Pastor Jay who sets up a skate park on the other side of the projects and recruits some of his pro skate buddies to talk and encourage the kids and give away skateboards. While there, Jay also runs into a young man he prayed with a few episodes ago, and the young man thanks Jay for praying for him and informs him he’s seen some improvements in his life. Meanwhile, Ron also gets help from Myesha’s father Scroncho, who owns a well-loved fried chicken business, and volunteers to cater the Gang Summit for Ron. It means a lot to Ron to have Scroncho involved because much like himself, Scroncho is also a former gang member who made it out alive. The peace march is scheduled to take place between the two places where community activist Sister Souljah’s two young sons were killed three months apart in 2006. Things however become a bit heated when a young man named Loco who lives in the projects openly accuses Ron of be a fraud. Loco asserts he’s lived here all his life and he’s never seen Ron around. After the confrontation almost comes to blows, thankfully cooler heads prevail. Ron apologizes to the young brother for losing his cool and they come to an understanding after Ron promises to be more consistent as far as coming back to the hood. After the conference, some community members give their testimony about their life and give thanks for such an event to tell their story. The organizers end the event with some final words and a powerful prayer.
