On Sunday, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” came back strong, breaking records and racking up the best numbers ever for a season premiere ever on Bravo network.

According to Nielsen, the seventh-season installment of RHOA averaged a 1.8/5 rating in adults 18-49 (about 2.2 million) and 3.83 million viewers overall in the first premiere hour, increasing viewers by more than 20 percent in women 18-49 since just last year.

It also beat out CBS’ “Madam Secretary” which premiered during the 8 o’clock hour with a 1.4/4 rating among adults 18-49. Overall, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” came in second place among all non-sports programs, behind ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” 3.2/8 rating and number one most social reality program on Sunday night with 171,000 tweets… Not too shabby!

The new cast certainly has much to celebrate. Bravo hasn’t seen a premiere this huge since “Real Housewives of New Jersey” season 3 premiere in May 2011, which brought in 2.02 million viewers among adults 18-49 and the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” season 5 premiere which was the most-watched premiere across the board with 3.23 million viewers.
