‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay’ easily maintains to stay atop weekend box office

Not much movement at this weekend’s box office as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay (Part 1) made light work of its nearest competitor, newcomer Penguins of Madagascar, by doubling its total intake with a few million left to spare.


Holding steady at No. 3 and 4 were Big Hero 6 and  Interstellar bringing in $18.7 million and $15.8 million, respectively. Opening at a somewhat disappointing fifth spot was the highly anticipated Horrible Bosses 2, which pulled in $15.7 million. And Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Beyond The Lights narrowly missed maintaining its place in the top ten raking in a little more than $1.5 million.
