The NYPD continue to create an “us vs. them” mentality. While at the funeral for deceased policed officer Rafael Ramos, dozens of police officers decided to turn their backs to New York’s mayor in defiance.
The NYPD initially turned their backs to Mayor de Blasio on the day two officers were killed in Brooklyn by Ismaaiyl Brinsley. Brinsley claimed he killed the officers in retaliation for the deaths of Eric Garner and Mike Brown.
Many of the NYPD were upset that de Blasio voiced his displeasure with the murder of Eric Garner who was choked to death by officer Daniel Pantaleo.
By turning their backs on de Blasio at Ramos’ funeral, it reveals that officers are more concerned with pushing an agenda than honoring the life of a fallen officer.
