In a growing trend to look their best, men and women alike are going under the knife to look like their favorite A-listers.
From Kim Kardashian to Scarlett Johanssen to the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, admirers around the world are maxing out their credit cards and draining their bank accounts in a quest to attain perfection.
Earlier this month, a British man, Jordan James Parke, had the social-sphere in an uproar, when reports surfaced claiming that he had spent a small fortune, approximately $156,000 to look like his idol, Kim Kardashian.
According to Parke, a makeup artist, he has had more than 50 cosmetic procedures to transform into the reality star, including Botox, lip fillers, eyebrow tattoos and laser hair removal.
Just months ago, another Kardashian super fan, Claire Leeson, also made headlines for paying more than $30,000 on plastic surgery in a quest to look more like the Paper magazine cover girl.
But is it Kim K’s infamous backside, Angelina Jolie’s lips or Fergie’s toned physique, that rules the request line in the weird world of celebrity look-a-like surgery?
Recently, rolling out had the opportunity to chat with celebrity surgeon Dr. Alessi of the Alessi Institutes and the Face Forward Foundation who broke down this year’s most requested look-a-like surgeries, the worst celeb surgeries of 2014, things to consider before going under the knife and more.
“You know, I use to get a lot of requests for Angelina Jolie’s lips, but now patients are bringing in pictures of Scarlett Johanssen. It’s very common procedure because I can do in the office and it requires fat, which lasts a lot longer than a filler.” says Dr. Alessi in regard to the most requested lips.
“When it comes to rhinoplasty, Kate Middleton is definitely a common request.” But then again, who wouldn’t want to look like the Duchess of Cambridge?
“Occasionally we get requests for a Kim or Khloe Kardashian butt, but not often. Sometimes women will want it to stick out more from behind but they bring in reference photos of mostly Brazilian models,” he says.
As you can imagine, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get Dr. Alessi’s opinion on whether or not the Kardashian sisters famous rumps were surgically enhanced.
“It’s my opinion that they did [have work done].
“There are before pictures and after pictures and if you look at them then and now, I would think that they probably had liposuction, practice waist-training, had a rib removed to bring their waist in a little bit more and for Kim Kardashian, a good portion of that fat probably went to her buttocks,” he says.
As for who was pulled a little too tight, Dr. A says that another member of the Kardashian Klan, Bruce Jenner is “the worst celeb surgery of 2014.”
“I’m not sure when he had work done, but he looks very artificial,” he says.
What would he have done differently? “I wouldn’t have stretched him as tight as he looks now,” Alessi says.
Whether or not you’re looking to enhance your natural beauty or make a drastic change, Dr. Alessi cautions potential patients to do their research.
“Number one, make sure your doctor is board certified. Number two, sit down with a variety of doctors and ask questions. A lot of times people go into a facility asking to look like someone else and they’re made promises that are sometimes unattainable. You want to make sure the doctor is certified, really interested in your needs, can meet them and isn’t just trying to collect your money,” he says.
