British soul crooner Sam Smith is not impressed with the humility of some of his contemporary pop star counterparts.
In a recent interview for V magazine the “Stay With Me” singer told legendary diva Chaka Khan that there are more than a few music stars of today that could use an attitude adjustment.
“Even when you meet them — I won’t name names — but some of these pop stars are just awful,” Smith told Khan. “And they have not even had half the success that you’ve had and yet you’re so humble and kind.”
It’s safe to say that Smith, who is the only artist last year to sell a million records in both the U.S. and U.K., is not speaking of known friends such as Beyoncé, Katy Perry or Taylor Swift.
Smith is definitely not alone in his opinion as a number of seasoned stars from Patti LaBelle to Bette Midler and Annie Lennox have shared similar sentiments in recent memory.
Maybe Smith will be able to teach his fellow singers about humility at the upcoming Grammys.
He’s expected to possibly sweep the awards as his album, In the Lonely Hour, is up for six Grammys, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
