Since the mid-2000s, actress Noree Victoria has been making quite the name for herself in Hollywood.
In addition to her many guest appearances on shows such as “Army WIves,” “The Game” and “NCIS,” the Baltimore native is probably best known for her role starring alongside Rickey Smiley as Simone on the hit TV One sitcom, The Rickey Smiley Show.
Her latest project is the highly anticipated Angela Bassett-directed Whitney Houston Lifetime biopic “Whitney.”
Noree, who stars in the film as “Sheryl,” an associate of Bobby Brown, had nothing but praise for Bassett’s directorial debut:
“Angela is so very passionate, and patient, and visual and hands-on. She has a sensual style of directing that’s both fierce and compassionate. I watched her on set, and saw that she let every character live within her. That’s not easy to do. I’m both proud of her, and honored, to have had my craft in her care,” Victoria says.
The biopic stars Yaya DaCosta as Whitney and Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown. Friend and former labelmate of Houston’s, Deborah Cox, a Grammy®-nominated and multiplatinum-selling artist in her own right, sings Houston’s hits in the film.
Some fans, no doubt still weary from the heavily panned Lifetime biopic “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B,” have voiced concern regarding the movie, but Victoria says fans need not fret. “With the direction and vision of Angela Bassett, I believe that our audiences won’t be disappointed.” she says.
“Whitney” will air on Lifetime Saturday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. EST.
