While the rumor mill has been speculating that Rosie Perez was making moves to leave ABC’s syndicated talk show, “The View,” in a surprise twist, her colleague, Rosie O’Donnell recently announced she will be leaving the morning show, barely five months after returning as a co-host.
To make matters worse, O’Donnell has split from her wife Michelle Rounds.
“I can confirm that Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November,” O’Donnell’s rep said in a statement Friday. “Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. This has been a very stressful situation. She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last.”
The news was first reported by Page Six.
Now the question is, who will fill O’Donnell’s slot? As previously reported, former “Glee” star Naya Rivera has been asked to return as a guest host due to an increase in ratings following her appearance in early January.
“Rivera has been asked back on “The View” and will do several more episodes as a co-host this month…There had been speculation that the producers of the embattled daytime talk show may have bigger plans for Rivera, and her return for more guest co-hosting is certain to further fuel that,” Deadline reported.
Could you see Rivera sitting in full time as a co-host of “The View?”
