Little Charlenni Ferreira endured abuse so extreme in her young life, that the perpetrators should be considered monsters.
At the age of 6, Charlenni moved from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia to be with her father and his new family. But the move proved to be four years of a living hell that ended with death.
According to court records, her stepmother, Margarita Garabito, subjected the girl to extreme abuse that escaped the view of anyone who cared. Garabito beat the girl so severely that over time she broke her ribs repeatedly. But the most horrific injury was discovered when the child was autopsied. It was found that Charlenni had suffered a deep gash in her head that exposed the skull. Rather than treat the injury, Garabito hid the wound with hair extensions and clips embedded in her flesh like staples. Garabito also allowed one of her sons to rape the little girl repeatedly. Charlenni’s father was also implicated in the abuse of his daughter but hung himself in prison.
Charlenni Ferreira, died nine days before she turned 11 due to a bacterial infection from her untreated multiple broken ribs. Garabito was sentenced to life in prison by a judge on Friday.
