Over the weekend, Chicago radio stations Power 92 and Soul 1063 created their own way to celebrate Black history with their seventh annual Black History Month Celebration at the DuSable Museum.

During February, which is designated as Black History Month, we pay homage to our ancestors and culture.

“The all-ages event entertained and educated people bout our iconic pioneers that paved the way in Black culture,” said Ebony Jackson, promotion coordinator for both stations.

Many of the stations’ personalities were present to show support and to be entertained.

The event featured musical genius and songwriter Johnny Gill, who really showed out and gave an excellent performance. Gill has always been known to captivate the ladies, with his tantalizing sound and persona, this performance was no different.

“Johnny Gill definitely had the crowd going wild and the ladies were pretty excited to get close to him,” said street team member John Ester.

Gill ended his phenomenal performance by passing out roses to all the ladies — how romantic.
