Nearly a decade following its release, T.I. has confirmed that a sequel to the 2006 movie ATL is in the works. “#ATL2 Get Ready,” Tip wrote, posting a snap of him with director Chris Robinson and co-stars Jackie Long, Albert Daniels and Jason Weaver via Instagram.
“#ATL WAS A CLASSIC #ATL2 WILL BE LEGENDARY!!!” added Robinson. “‘AND SO IT BEGINS’ THE CREW @troubleman31 @jackielong @albeback @itsjasonweaver #RITF #BONG.”
In 2006, ATL debuted in theaters at No. 3, grossing $11.5 million in its opening weekend. The coming-of-age film, which follows four friends preparing for life after high school, is loosely based on the experiences of the film’s producers, Dallas Austin and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, growing up in Atlanta.
T.I. will reprise his role as Rashad with stars like Big Boi of OutKast, Evan Ross and Lauren London rounding out the star-studded cast. Will you be watching?
