The Lionsgate action adventure Insurgent made easy work of the rest of the field to easily top this weekend’s box office.

With an opening weekend of $54 million, the latest film in the Divergent series had no trouble besting its nearest competitor, Cinderella, which took in roughly half of last week’s draw at $34 million. Though not quite as strong of a showing as its predecessor, Insurgent has a great chance of holding on next week if the Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart buddy comedy, Get Hard, bombs. Taking the third spot this week is the Liam Neeson action flick Run All Night, which pulled in another $5.1 million. Perhaps suffering from backlash from his ill-advised “green card” quip at this year’s Oscars, Sean Penn’s The Gunman was a bust, opening at a paltry $5 million. Rounding out the top five was Kingsman: The Secret Service adding another $4.6 million to its total..
