Looks like Dame Dash and Kanye West have run into a bit of an issue with their movie, Loisaidas.
According to TMZ, Michael Medina, a member of a Latin musical duo also called Loisaidas, recently filed a lawsuit against Dash and West claiming that the movie promotes drugs and violence and damages his group’s reputation. Medina is seeking damages and asking that a judge put an end to the film project.
“I’m disgusted that they’re taking a brand that I made and built and are turning it into something that it isn’t,” says Medina.
Dash responded to Medina’s claims on Instagram. The mogul says he checked for a trademark on the name and looks forward to their day in court:
“How the f— am I supposed to know there is a group called @loisaidas and why wouldn’t they just call me first…why TMZ? The stupid a– crew that’s talking about suing me doesn’t even own their own trademark …. I’ll just see you in court… I actually like fighting when I’m right … makes for good entertainment and it enlightens people that they don’t need to be scared or pushed around over dumb s—… Yall started it don’t be mad about how I’m gonna finish it.”
Loisaidas is a nickame for New York City’s Lower East Side. Dash’s film tells the story of a young amateur BMX street rider and two Harlem hustlers who’ve relocated to the LES. Loisaidas stars Dash, Murda Mook, Smoke Dza, and The Lox.
