Taraji P. Henson, who plays a sassy, quick-witted ex-con, Cookie Lyon, on Fox’s smash hit “Empire,” has just inked a deal with Simon & Schuster imprint 37 INK to publish her memoir, The New York Times reports.

In the memoir, the Washington, D.C., native opens up about growing up in an underserved neighborhood, her life as a single parent, and the road to her Hollywood takeover. Before “Empire” cemented Henson’s star status, the mother of one appeared on “Person of Interest,” (before being killed off in 2013) and in big screen blockbusters like Hustle & Flow, Baby Boy, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button alongside Brad Pitt, which earned her a nod for Best Supporting Actress.

Henson joins the likes of stars like Joan Rivers, Russell Brand, Chelsea Handler and Mindy Kaling, who all have penned memoirs. Henson’s book is scheduled for publication in mid-2016. Will you buy it?
