The adage “hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” is applicable to a Tulsa, Oklahoma, woman whose wrath played out at a funeral home viewing.
Apparently, Shaynna Sims had a romantic rival for her boyfriend’s affection and despite the two women being friends at one point, her anger was still intense. Sims’ former friend died recently and she went to the Moore Funeral Home East Lawn Chapel, not to pay her respects to the dead woman, but instead to show the level of hatred she still had for the deceased.
According to police, while mourners were in attendance Sims cut the dead woman’s face from the hairline line to the tip of her nose, chopped off locks of her hair, and smeared the makeup. According to police, there were patches of hair scattered around the casket as mourners looked on in shock at what took place. But Sims was not finished, she ran out of the funeral home and traveled to the dead woman’s apartment. Once at the apartment she was able to gain entry by telling relatives she was a friend of the deceased who needed to pick up some jewelry to wear to the funeral. Police were able to apprehend her at the apartment and found in her possession of scissors, a box cutter, and a folding knife that still had the dead woman’s hair lodged in the handle.
Sims was arrested and initially charged with a misdemeanor of illegal dissection, however the charges could be upgraded to vandalizing a corpse. Sims is free on bond.
