Nicki Minaj will continue her acting career with a role in Barbershop 3. According to Variety, the Young Money rapper will co-star in New Line/MGM’s flick alongside Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer.
“Minaj will play Draya, the sassy new hairdresser of the beauty shop portion of the barbershop. She made her first screen appearance last year in The Other Woman, playing the assistant to Cameron Diaz’s character,” reports Variety. Rounding out the cast are Regina Hall and Eve.
In 2002, the original film, directed by Tim Story and set in Chicago, starred Ice Cube and Anthony Anderson, quickly becoming a cult classic. In 2004 the sequel, Barbershop 2: Back in Business featured the same cast, with Kevin Rodney Sullivan directing.
Worldwide, the franchise profited about $140 million at the box office. Rapper-actor Common has also signed on to star in Barbershop 3. Will you buy a ticket?
