By now many have seen the now viral video that shows a principal in Georgia making racist comments. Nancy Gordeuk, the principal of TNT Academy in Gwinnett County, Georgia, made the comments during the school’s graduation ceremony. According to Gordeuk, she did not mean for her comments to be offensive and blamed her remarks during the graduation ceremony on the devil. She later issued an apology that was directed to the audience but not to the specific group she insulted, Black people.
Now it has been announced that the board of directors at the private school voted to fire Gordeuk. In a written response from Dr. Heidi Anderson, chair of the board, wrote, ” In light of recent events, the board of directors of TNT Academy has moved to dismiss Nancy Gordeuk as principal. During the coming transition, we will continue to prioritize support for our most recent graduates. Moreover, we will continue our commitment to providing students with the best educational classes, transcription services and academic credit recovery possible.”
The school teaches grades seven through 12 and offers credit recovery for public school students who’ve failed classes. The school, which is accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission, reportedly is due for an upcoming review for accreditation.
