Ambassador Andrew J. Young celebrated his 83rd birthday by hosting the Andrew J. Young International Leadership Awards at the Marriott Marquis in Atlanta. The ceremony honored individuals and organizations who have made tremendous strides in the community.
Honorees included Ava DuVernay (Civil Rights and Civic Participation); Alana Shepherd (Community Engagement); Strive Masiyiwa (International Humanitarian Initiatives); and Lucien Ebata (Chairman’s Award).
Christ Tucker served as host for the event that featured notable attendees such as Hank Aaron; Mayor Kasim Reed, T.I., and Keri Hilson.
“More important than who we honor, is what we do with the money we raise during this event,” Young said. “For 83 years I have lived a blessed life and I’ve always been taught that to whom much is given of them, much is required. The foundation gives me a platform to share the blessings I have received in my life and career.”
