This past Memorial Day holiday proved especially violent for the city of Baltimore. According to police, at least 28 people were shot and nine were killed in unrelated incidents. Thirty-five people have been killed so far in May, the deadliest month for the city since December of 1999. These killings are troubling in light of the violent protests that arose from the police killing of Freddie Gray. So far in 2015 108 people have lost their lives to violence in the city.
The Baltimore Police Department Facebook page has listed where many of the shootings have taken place and even that two of the victims included a 9-year-old boy and 3-year-old child who was sitting on her front porch.
The responses from the public call to light the #BlackLivesMatter and the irony that Black people are shooting and killing other Black people at an alarming rate in the city.
