A college student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham could spend the rest of his life behind bars after an argument over bad grades.
According to reports by AL.com, Tyler Ryan Blansit, 22, was visiting his parents’ home when he began discussing grades with his mother, Sherry Ann Blansit. Apparently, Tyler made bad grades the last semester and his mother was upset. At some point, the argument became heated and eventually led to violence.
Tyler grabbed a baseball bat and hit his mother in the head causing blunt force trauma. He called 911 and authorities found Sherry dead in her backyard.
Police arrested Tyler and the student revealed that he killed his mother over college grades. Sherry’s husband was at work at the time of the murder.
Tyler has been charged with murder, but no bond has been set.
