An affair that started on social media led to a violent confrontation in Atlanta. According to reports by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Christopher Merriweather was at Lenox Mall when he was confronted by another man.
The man began arguing with Merriweather over a woman that he met on Instagram. The suspect eventually pulled out his gun and shot Merriweather in the leg. Merriweather was able to pull out his gun, but he was unable to fire his weapon.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a pick-up truck with a White woman in the passenger seat. Merriweather was rushed to the hospital to be treated.
This isn’t the first time social media interactions have led to violence. In February, a teenager from Atlanta was sentenced to 40 years after an Instagram dispute led to a violent altercation.
Police have yet to name the suspect who shot Merriweather.
