Young Money artist Flow was arrested last week and charged with two counts of murder.
The rapper, born Widner Degruy, was arrested for the murders of brothers Kendred and Kendrick Bishop in New Orleans over the Memorial Day weekend. Another man, alleged accomplice, Jonathan Evans, was arrested on June 27.
According to reports, Flow was discovered to be involved in the murders when his cellphone was found near the car that contained the bodies of the Bishop brothers. Nearby surveillance footage showed him to be in the area when the murders took place. The video reportedly shows Flow and a man presumed to be Evans, running by with an assault rifle.
Upon questioning by authorities, Flow said he was in the vehicle with the Bishops and a fourth unidentified man prior to the shooting. Flow claims the men dropped him off and he ran back to the car after hearing gunshots only to find the brothers dead. He said he then attempted to phone police but couldn’t because of a cracked phone screen at which point he threw the phone to the ground in frustration and ran off to call from another location.
Unfortunately for Flow, body camera footage from the first officers on the scene show the rapper telling police he believed he left his phone in the car. He also initially gave officers a fake name.
Though he hadn’t released an album while signed to Young Money Entertainment, Flow has released a number of mixtapes and gained some notoriety when he dissed Young Thug on behalf of label boss Lil Wayne. He also appeared on Young Money’s 2014 compilation album, Rise of an Empire.
