‘Space Jam 2’ rumors get boost with LeBron James, Twitter reacts

Fans can reignite their crazy hopes for LeBron James having a starring role in Space Jam 2. On Wednesday, the Cleveland Cavalier and Warner Bros. Entertainment revealed that the studio and the player’s own company, SpringHill Entertainment, are partnering in content creation, which will span “television, film and original digital content.” James tweeted…

But what we all really wanted to know was: Could this mean Space Jam 2 starring James has been given new life? After all, there has been speculation for years now, that James, arguably the greatest active NBA player, could pick up where Michael Jordan left off in the Warner Bros.’s classic, Space Jam.


In 2012, James expressed interest in starring in a sequel to the the 1996 film while chatting with a fan via Twitter: “RT @Parletoo: @KingJames do you love space Jam ?(I love that movie. Wish I could do Space Jam 2!)” That was just enough to get the rumor mill going.

But our dreams were crushed earlier this year when James sources refuted Deadline’s original report that there was a Space Jam 2 or Warner Bros. project in the works. And yet just one month after the patents for Space Jam were renewed, James landed his big deal.. creating more speculation that Bill Murray and Yosemite Sam could be returning to a big screen near you, in the near future. Unfortunately for ‘Bron, not everyone was excited about the rumor. Twitter pretty much rejected the thought of the 30-year-old starring in a sequel. One user tweeted:
