Racism was on full display for Black employees at a Kansas City, Missouri, hotel. The White female hotel manager hung a Black doll with a plastic bag in the employee break room. The hotel is the upscale Adams Mark Hotel and the workers who saw the doll were majority Black.

The employees were outraged at the action of their White supervisor and complained about the overt show of racism and insensitivity over the death of civil rights activist Sandra Bland. Bland died in custody earlier this month and her death has been ruled a suicide.

The incident of the doll hanging has resulted in the firing of the supervisor and a statement was released by the Adams Mark Hotel which reads in part, “This isolated incident is completely inconsistent with the values and culture of the Adams Mark Hotel Kansas City.”

Attorney Stacey Shaw is representing several employees who took offense at the display and has stated, “The firing is not enough.“

The image has gone viral on Twitter and has garnered over 14,000 tweets.
