Former Austin, Texas, police officer VonTrey Clark allegedly hired a hit man to kill his pregnant mistress and fled the country. According to the Austin Chronicle, the married Clark had a sexual relationship with Samantha Dean, 29, for several years.
But in January of 2015, their relationship took a turn when Dean revealed that she was pregnant with Clark’s baby. Clark asked Dean to get an abortion, but she told him that she would keep their child. Dean soon began to fear for her life and allegedly told her co-workers that Clark would be responsible if she came up missing.
On Feb. 4, Dean was found dead behind a vacant shopping center in Bastrop, Texas. Clark was not arrested, but he was initially placed on administrative leave as the investigation began. It was discovered that Clark bought pre-paid disposable phones and used them to send text messages to Kevin Watson, Kyla Fisk and Freddie Smith. Through cellphone tracking, it was discovered that the phones were last used in the vicinity where Dean’s body was found.
Watson, Clark’s former roommate, allegedly committed the murder and Fisk disposed of the clothes. Smith was arrested for making a threat to Dean’s friend after the murder. Watson, Fisk and Smith are all in custody.
However, Clark may have gotten away for good. Clark was fired from the APD for failing to report to a meeting with Internal Affairs in July. He eventually caught a flight to Tokyo and took another flight to Indonesia. The United States does not have an extradition treaty with Indonesia so it’s highly likely that Clark could live there for the rest of his life without facing prosecution.
Clark has yet to be charged with a crime, but it’s possible that Dean’s family will never get the justice they deserve because Clark was allowed to remain free for six months following her death.
