Good news for Aaliyah fans.

Friend and frequent collaborator Timbaland recently confirmed via Instagram that he’s sitting on some never before heard music from the beloved late singer that he plans to release soon.

“Attention!!!!!” Timbaland begins his Instagram post. “People ask me all the time do I have any babegirl music we haven’t heard !!!!! well the answer is YES!!!!!!!! TIMBO x BABEGIRL !!!!! Sneak peak coming !!!!!!!”

Timbaland is of course credited, along with Missy Elliott, with helping Aaliyah redefine her sound after her split from mentor R. Kelly. In 1996, the trio crafted her landmark album One In A Million and 2001’s more mature self-titled Aaliyah, which helped to solidify her superstar status before she tragically died in a August 2001 plane crash.

The timing for new Aaliyah music may be just right as a recent Lifetime biopic and a proposed collaborative album with Drake prove she is still relevant in popular culture today.

Her vocals were also recently sampled for up and coming rapper Tink’s song “Million.” Timbaland says Aaliyah came to him in a dream and gave her blessing to the producer.

“I don’t touch Baby Girl’s records — y’all know that’s Aaliyah,” Tim said. “I was riding home one day, asleep. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, ‘She’s the one.'”

Thus far, no release date has been given for new Aaliyah music.
