After years of flying under the radar in show biz, Ja Rule finally has a new gig as a fashion collaborator for Steve Madden’s newest sneaker.

The urban fashion line announced its partnership with the Grammy-nominated rapper for Maven x Madden high-tops from the Steve Madden Mens collection. Ja Rule, who literally ruled the airwaves in the early 2000s with hit songs like “Mesmerized” and “Put It On Me,” is more than ready to be the face of the stylish shoe.

“I wanted to partner with Steve to create a line that was both stylish and affordable,” Ja Rule said in a press release. “I love all the styles, but my favorites, I would have to say, are the high-top nubuck sneaker, the brush-off chelsea boot. The Maven motorcycle-style boot is something different from anything out there.”

The sneakers feature soft nappa and nubuck leather and suede material and are buckled with a metallic ornament such as mini handcuffs and skeleton keys.

Steve Madden himself said it was a delight to team up with the music artist.

“He came to the table with all of these ideas,” said Madden. “He’s an awesome guy, we click. It’s been fun to collaborate with artists. I enjoy it. I enjoy the creative spark.”

Madden has collaborated with artists in the past to bring his brand alive. Singer Keyshia Cole and rapper Iggy Azalea have assisted Madden in creating fashions with their own unique flair.

The Maven x Madden collection will be available for purchase in Pre-Fall 2015. The sneakers will be sold at select Steve Madden stores, the Steve Madden website, Macy’s, Dillard’s, and other apparel retailers. The price ranges from $145 to $195.
