The pilot for Issa Rae’s HBO comedy, “Insecure,” is beginning to take form as a couple of casting additions were recently announced.

According to Deadline, Jay Ellis (“The Game“) and Yvonne Orji (comedian-actress) have signed on to be a part of the series that focuses on “the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern-day African American woman through the eyes of Issa Dee (Rae).” Ellis will star as Lawrence, Issa’s “depressed and unemployed boyfriend” who can’t seem to get his act together, while Orji will play the role of Issa’s best friend, Molly, who is described as “very successful in her corporate work life” but “very unsuccessful in her love life.”

Co-written by Rae and host of Comedy Central’s The Nightly Show,” Larry Wilmore, who also serves as consultant and producer, the pilot will be directed by music video director Melina Matsoukas (Beyoncé “Pretty Hurts”; Rihanna’s “We Found Love”).

Other producers will include Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry, Michael Rotenberg and Prentice Penny
