Nile Rodgers reminisces on “Good Times”
Nile Rodgers was honored with the Icon Award. The music legend shared insight on his inspirations in music and how he continued after several setbacks. But the most enjoyable moment from his presentation was a surprise performance of his 1979 hit “Good Times.” Rodgers was also joined on stage by Chuck.
DJ Mustard ruled in 2015
DJ Mustard may have been the hardest working producer in 2014-15. The Los Angeles-based DJ produced top hits such as Jeremih’s “Don’t Tell ‘Em,” Big Sean’s “IDFWY,” and Omarion’s “Post to Be,” to name a few. DJ Mustard walked away with the producer/songwriter of the year.
Cee Lo Green and others pay tribute to Nile Rogers
Before Nile Rodgers performed “Good Times,” Cee Lo Green, Deborah Cox, V. Bozeman, Kelly Price, and Sister Sledge paid tribute to the music legend.
Snoop and Chuck D share a moment
Snoop and Chuck D took a moment to share thoughts on the red carpet. But their exchange represented an era in hip-hop that is now known as the “Golden Age.” The two legendary rappers were responsible for major shifts in hip-hop. Chuck D represented the political aspect of hip-hop during the late ‘80s, while Snoop ushered in West Coast gangsta rap in the early ’90s. Their music continues to leave an indelible mark on hip-hop.
