Tom Brady and his team have proved that persistence (and choosing the right defense lawyer) pays off. Brady and his team were elated to get the news Thursday morning that federal Judge Richard M. Berman overturned commissioner Roger Goodell’s decision to penalize the New England Patriots’ quarterback with a four-game suspension.
Judge Berman’s ruling will make Brady a very happy man (if the NFL doesn’t appeal), who will be able to start opening night, which is less than one week from tonight.
However, we wouldn’t be surprised if the NFL has a rep standing in line at the courthouse to file this appeal as we write. So don’t start doing your old-school dances (cabbage patching, the running man) and hitting the quan just yet. Take a look below at just three points the judge may have based his decision on:
- The NFL didn’t properly inform Brady of the punishment he faced, or even what he was accused of.
- The NFL didn’t let Brady’s camp question NFL executive and counsel Jeff Pash at his appeal.
- The NFL didn’t give Brady’s side the opportunity to examine the evidence against him.
