The story of Ahmed Mohamed has spread like wildfire across social media and the mainstream news. Ahmed is the young 14-year-old teen who was arrested for a science project where he built a working digital clock. His teacher, instead of seeing brilliance at such a young age, felt he was a threat and called police. Apparently, the teacher felt that Ahmed was building some type of time bomb. Whether it was because of his Muslim heritage and her own deep seeded fear of terrorism, it resulted in the young man being handcuffed, arrested and booked into juvenile detention. All charges against Ahmed have been dropped.
The story reached the ears of President Barack Obama, who was obviously concerned about the young man’s plight. That’s when President Obama took to his personal Twitter account and sent out the following tweet:
Once again, President Obama has cut through the veil of ignorance and anti-muslim hatred to show all of America that intolerance must stop. Ahmed has received invitations from some of the countries top universities to tour their campuses including MIT, Harvard and Yale . These schools recognize brilliance and Ahmed has a bright future ahead.
