When Hamilton, Ohio based rapper Slim Jesus hit the internet last month with his now viral hit, “Drill Time”, many wondered if he was for real or just doing a parody video for the sake of entertainment.

Borrowing heavily from the drill music sound popularized by a number of Chicago artists such as Chief Keef and Lil Durk, Slim Jesus’ video features him flashing guns and talking tough while accompanied by a number of “friends” who also play it up to the camera not unlike most of the drill music videos you’ve seen before.

After the song took off, the same question came to the forefront over and over again: is he for real? Could this tiny white kid that doesn’t look to weigh more than 110lbs be the most gangsta rapping, body catching, hardcore bad ass we’ve seen thus far?

Well the answer is… no.

Slim Jesus recently sat down with VladTV to talk about the authenticity of his music and admits it’s all for show:

For the most part on the street s–t, like, I got homies that are in that s–t and I know people who are and people around me. I’m not out here catching bodies and s–t, obviously. I’m f——g smart. I know people and I’ve been in some situations but I’m not out here f——g killing people. Nah [I don’t have a criminal record], I’m straight. I’ve never been arrested. I make music. Granted, I hang out with people and s–t but that don’t mean that I’m out here doing some dumb s–t trying to ruin what I got going [on]. I realize that if you got an opportunity to get out of a spot, you shouldn’t be f——g around catching bodies and s–t.

Later when talking about some of the things he raps about in his songs he contends that it’s all about keeping people entertained and he’s okay if some people don’t like it:

If I rapped about driving around in a f—–g car and f——-g listening to country music nobody would give a f–k about that s–t. I make music about some s–t because it sounds cool. I like making music. I make cool music. Like I already said, I’m not out here claiming that I actually kill people… I make music that I wanna listen to, the type of s–t I listen to. If people don’t wanna respect me because what I make my music about, then that’s ok. They can go to the other side, that’s alright. I’m not tripping.
