Known for his trademark scowl, it’s no surprise that entertainment mogul Ice Cube has landed the role of the iconic grouch Ebenezer Scrooge in an upcoming reboot of A Christmas Carol. The new film, titled Humbug, will offer a contemporary retelling of the Charles Dickens classic. Tim Story will direct, according to Deadline.com.

In this modern version, the 46-year-old miser is a wealthy real estate mogul. Otherwise, the story remains the same with the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future all paying a visit with redemption soon to follow. While there’s no official release date for Humbug just yet, reports speculate that it could be out as early as 2017.

In the meantime, the Friday actor has been busy soaking up the success from his summer blockbuster Straight Outta Compton, which documents the rise and fall of hip hop giants N.W.A. Cube produced that film with his real-life son starring in the role as young Ice Cube.
