Vanessa Williams lands spot on CW drama ‘The Flash’

Veteran actress Vanessa Williams (“Chicago Hope, New Jack City) has landed a role in the second season of the CW drama “The Flash.”

Williams will take on the role of Mama West, mother of Iris West (Candice Patton) and wife to Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) in the series.


According to Variety, the series, which is based on the popular DC Comics character will “delve further into the West family in season two, thanks to the addition of Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, known in DC Comics canon as Iris’ nephew, and Barry Allen’s (Grant Gustin) sidekick and eventual replacement as The Flash.”

Also joining the series will be Williams’ Candyman co-star Tony Todd, who will provide the voice of the shows villain, Zoom.


Season two of “The Flash” premieres Tues., Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. est on the CW.
