There’s been a lot of talk lately about Beyoncé’s past thanks to the new tell-all book Becoming Beyoncé, by best-selling celebrity biographer J Randy Taraborrelli. And in the book are stories from Bey’s high school sweetheart, Lyndall Locke, who opens up about his 10-year relationship with the superstar. But Locke recently decided that he wanted to tell his story of Bey on his own terms and he opened up to The Daily Mail to talk about his past love with her.

In the interview, Locke talks about the beginnings of his relationship with Bey, whom he started dating when she was just 12 and he was 14. Locke explains that back then he and Bey were just a normal teenage couple.

‘We shared our first kiss at a Brian McKnight concert when Bey was 13. She was a little Southern belle. She was an awesome kisser. We would hang out and do normal boyfriend-girlfriend things, although I was never allowed to stay over,” Locke said.

Locke explains that even at such a young age, Beyoncé was intensely focused on her career and so was her father, whom Locke says was the mastermind behind the “Beyoncé Project” to make her a superstar.

‘Let me tell you, there was no messing with Big Mac. He gave me the third degree about who I was and what my intentions were. He gave me the talk about “not messing anything up,’” which Locka says was Knowles own way of telling him not to get Bey pregnant.

Locke added about Bey, “She was focused and knew what she wanted. She’d started singing when she was five and her parents supported her. There was a Beyoncé train on the fast track to fame and you were either on it or off it. Some people fell off the train and others jumped.”

Unfortunately for Locke, Bey’s lust for fame eventually pulled them in different directions and they broke up after ten years together shortly after Locke cheated on her for a second time in their relationship. However, Locke says he knows Bey’s husband, Jay Z, is a better fit for her than he ever could be.

“We were together for 10 years. I saw the changes in her. She needed someone like Jay Z to take her to the next level. There’s no hard feelings,” Locke said.

But that’s not all that he talked about. Read what he had to say about cheating on Bey as well as more of his thoughts on Jay Z after the cut
