Unless you’ve been living under rock for the past week or have the absolute worst Wi-Fi in the world, you’ve heard of the infamous story of Zola, a stripper and Hooters waitress who recently went online and shared her story about one crazy weekend in Florida with another stripper that involved prostitution, and bipolar-induced balcony jumps. After enchanting the Internet with her out-of-this-world tale, Zola is reportedly poised to storm Hollywood with her infamous story.
Here’s a summary of Zola’s insanely captivating story. While working at Hooters, Zola meets a White woman named Jess and decides to take a trip with her to Florida to work a weekend at a strip club. However, Jess brings her bipolar boyfriend, Jarrett, and her African pimp, Z, with them and the trip turns into a series of wild and illegal experiences as Z pimps out Jess to multiple men, Jarrett attempts suicide over Jess’ prostitution, and Zola ends up becoming something of a madam just trying to survive the weekend.
After living to tell the tale, Zola shared her story in a long series of tweets to the world and ended up not only becoming an online sensation, but also garnering attention from filmmaker Ava Duvernay.
Zola recently claimed that she planned to copyright her story and now it seems like she had the right idea in mind because a new report claims that Zola is headed to Hollywood to meet with various TV and film studios.
According to TMZ, Zola told the site that executives at MTV, VICE, WME, as well as a few independent filmmakers, were blown away by her story and want to speak with her about turning the story into a film or TV project.
Zola explained that she wants to turn her story into a TV series about her days as a stripper and she wants either Keke Palmer or Meagan Good to play her in the series.
Zola also explained that she and her boyfriend from the story are still together and that they’re actually married. She also revealed that she’s pregnant with their child and that she hasn’t stripped since her wild adventure with Jess in March.
Well, we definitely think Zola is sitting on a goldmine with this story and we can’t wait to see what she does with it. But are her top picks for actresses to play her game for the project? Read what Palmer had to say about Zola after the cut.
