Lamar Odom has been struggling to recover for the past two weeks after he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel over a reported drug overdose. Doctors told him and his family that he’d need several months of rehab to recover from his injuries, and perhaps most notably it was rumored that Odom’s kidneys were failing and that he might need a transplant. But a new report claims that Odom’s recovery is going well and that his kidneys are doing better than before.
According to TMZ, Odom’s kidneys suffered so much damage during his coma that he needed six hours of dialysis a day in order to stay alive.
But now sources say that Odom’s kidneys have improved to the point where he can be taken off dialysis and he won’t need to have his kidneys replaced.
The sources say that Odom’s motor skills were impaired because of the numerous strokes he suffered during his ordeal and he’s now on the floor of the hospital where patients undergo physical therapy.
Now that Odom is recovering well, he’s also reportedly able to make all medical decisions for himself again. For the past two weeks, his wife, Khloe Kardashian, has been the one making decisions for Odom, and sources say that the Kardashians are worried now that Odom has complete control over his medical treatment.
Well, it looks like everyone will just have to wait and see how well Odom recovers, if his kidneys are functioning properly, that is a good first step.
