A D.C. man who is accused of throwing a 7-month-old infant down a flight of stairs has been arrested, Prince William County police say.
According to reports, officers responded to a home in the 3400 block of Castle Hill Drive in Woodbridge, VA at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 3, to investigate a domestic incident. A 53-year-old woman claimed that the alleged suspect, 38-year-old James Tony Brown, forced his way into the residence and assaulted her.
He then made his way upstairs to a bedroom, grabbed a 7-month-old girl and threw her down the stairs, causing a serious leg injury. Brown is also accused of striking the infant’s 24-year-old mother in the head with a glass bottle, but fortunately, she only suffered minor injuries.
Although Brown fled the scene, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force apprehended him at his Washington, D.C. home. He is currently awaiting extradition to Virginia, where he will face two counts of malicious wounding, one count of cruelty to children, one count of burglary and one count of simple assault.
