Fans of R&B star Miguel will soon get to see the crooner in a new light when he shows his acting chops in an upcoming Ben Affleck movie.

The Grammy-winning singer has signed on to join the all-star cast of Live By Night, a prohibition-era crime drama based on a novel by Dennis Lehane, that Affleck will star in, write, and direct.

Live By Night will borrow some of the characters from Lehane’s previous novel, The Given Day, and bring them into Prohibition. The film will tell the story of Joe Coughlin (Affleck), the black-sheep son of a police captain who gets involved in varying levels of organized crime. Chris Messina, Elle Fanning, Sienna Miller, and Zoe Saldana are set to co-star in the film.

Miguel will play the role of Esteban, the brother of Saldana’s character, Graciella Suarez, a woman Coughlin encounters when he begins to get involved in the organized crime scene of Tampa, Florida.

Originally given an October 2016 release date, Live By Night is now eyeing a 2017 release to give Affleck time to take on the role of Batman in the highly anticipated Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Up next for Miguel in the immediate future is a slated performance at the A&E Networks and iHeartMedia show, Shining A Light: A Concert For Progress On Race In America, which will tape at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium on Nov. 18 and air across the country on Nov. 20.
