Tamar Braxton was one of the top contenders on this season of “Dancing with the Stars” and was poised to make it to the finals, but all of that came to an abrupt end this week when Braxton had to leave the competition when she was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms. Although Braxton was, understandably, disappointed by the situation, her “The Real” co-stars recently rallied behind their ailing friend on their talk show.
During a segment dedicated to Braxton’s “DWTS” departure, co-host, Jeannie Mai explained the casts’ support of Braxton’s decision to focus on her health instead of the competition.
“We know that this wasn’t an easy decision for Tamar to make, but obviously she realizes – and I’m so happy she did – that her health comes first. And that we all send her love as she recovers,” Mai said.
Mai and Adrienne Bailon then explained that, during their hospital visit, Braxton was initially adamant about not wanting to quit “DWTS.”
“Like, Vince was like, ‘You can’t do that.’ And she was like [imitating Tamar’s voice], ‘What you mean I can’t do that?’ ” Mai said.
“Just, literally, we were talking, she was like, ‘But I could… but I could.’ And I think that’s what we love so much about her, is her energy and her tenacity,” Bailon added.
Loni Love then chimed in and explained that she felt the same about Braxton.
“‘Cause I talked to her this morning and she was still trying to give, you know, ideas for the show. I said, ‘You concentrate on being healthy!’ ” Love said.
She added, “And I know you looking at us. Concentrate on being healthy, Tay Tay. I mean it!”
We couldn’t agree more and we hope Braxton has a speedy recovery.
