A member of the Bloods gang allegedly had relationships with female correctional officers and used his power to smuggle contraband and gain funds for his legal defense. According to the Daily News, Tyrone Williams, 26, entered Rikers Island in New York following his arrest on an attempted murder charge in 2012.
Williams is an alleged member of the Bloods gang and has established high rank while in jail. He was also able to control several females who were hired as correctional officers. Authorities believe Williams had sex with the women to make them believe he was in love with them. Once the women fell in love, Williams was able to use them to smuggle contraband into the prison, such as cell phones and drugs. He also made the women pay for his lawyers, reportedly.
The four women involved were recorded on phone calls professing their love for Williams; however, Williams has denied that he had sexual relationships with the women and believes it was a rumor created to keep him behind bars. He says he has been locked up for three years without going to trial.
But if Williams actually participated in romps with the women while in jail, it wouldn’t be the first time a prisoner/officer sexual encounter occurred in recent years. In June, correctional officer Joyce Mitchell helped David Sweat and Richard Matt escape Dannemora prison after the men promised her a relationship. In Baltimore, Tavon White of the Black Guerrilla Gang Family impregnated four female prison guards while locked down. The four women all faced jail time for their actions.
In Williams’ case, the women involved have been suspended until further investigations are complete.
