Film and television producer Will Packer has his next project lined up and hopes it will continue his outstanding streak of box office smashes.
Up next for the 41-year-old Florida native is a family comedy titled A Meyers Christmas featuring an ensemble cast that includes Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union, Kimberly Elise, Mo’Nique, Nicole Ari Parker, and Omar Epps. The film, written and to be directed by playwright and author David E. Talbert, revolves around an estranged family forced to come together for Christmas following the death of the family matriarch.
Talbert, who wrote and directed the 2013 Paula Patton rom-com Baggage Claim, will also serve as executive producer of the film, along with Union.
Packer will work his producer magic on the film through his company, Will Packer Productions, which is riding high off the box office success of the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, which topped $200 million worldwide. He was also a driving force behind the Kevin Hart and Ice Cube buddy flick Ride Along, which broke a box office record for January openings on its way to over $150 million earned worldwide. Packer and company hope to duplicate that success when Ride Along 2 is released in January 2016.
A Meyers Christmas is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 11, 2016.
