Adele squashes Beyoncé beef rumors

Several weeks ago, the rumor mill was buzzing over reports that Adele, who had just dropped her hit new single “Hello,” had turned down the opportunity to work with Beyoncé. Because, after all, there is only room for one diva in the booth.

Now, the Grammy and Oscar-winning songstress, who invaded New York City earlier this week to make the media rounds, teasing singles like “Hello” and “When We Were Young,” has taken it upon herself to clear up the rumor about her peer.

“There is a rumor going around that I turned Beyoncé down,” Adele told Zane Lowe, in an hour-long interview on Wednesday.

“Just to clear up, I would never be so disrespectful,” she continued. “I would never disrespect her like that. I’m such a fan, oh my God!”

So, that’s that. The 25-year-old also took a moment to rattle off a few of her other favorite musicians, including Lana Del Rey and the Alabama Shakes before stating her number one: “Obviously, Queen Bey to the day I die.”

Adele also revealed her struggle to write songs that wouldn’t hurt anyone’s feelings — like she felt those on her first album did — yet were still interesting: “For a really long time, I was trying to write songs about my kid because [motherhood] is the biggest thing in my life, but they were boring to everyone who wasn’t their mum. They were like, ‘You’re going on about your kid again?’ So I scrapped that. A lot of my fans aren’t parents, or don’t want to be parents. I tried writing about other people’s experiences or made-up things because I didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings again.”

Now, we know it’s been years since Bey’s popular “Resentment” ballad, but these two definitely have the chops to come together and create something special. We can already feel them pulling on our heart strings. Would you like to see Adele and Queen B put in work? Sound off in the comment section below.
