With Monica’s new album, Code Red, dropping this Friday, Dec. 18, the veteran singer has been all over the place doing promotions. Recently, she stopped by “The Breakfast Club” for another round of wild and crazy questions, and one of the things Monica discussed was the never-ending rumors about her friendship with fellow R&B vet Brandy.

While chatting with the radio hosts, Monica was asked about the rumors of a long-standing beef between her and Brandy, who some people still believe is at odds with Monica. However, Monica clarified what their relaitonship is really like.

“It’s good because we grown!” Monica said, denying rumors that she and Brandy were at odds when they reunited for the song “It All Belongs To Me.”

“When we were younger, it was definitely a lot more difficult but it was always because – I don’t know why people don’t realize that they can like us both,” Monica said.

She then revealed that she and Brandy didn’t have a relationship before they recorded their 1998 mega hit “The Boy Is Mine” together.

“We didn’t like each other when we recorded the record, real talk. And everything that went on between us, we had a conversation about and that was it because you can never deny that she’s one of the greatest to ever do it. And even though we’re polar opposites, we’re completely different, the only time we ever won Grammys and broke records and all that stuff was together. So you can’t undo that history,” Monica said.

The Code Red singer also spoke about the past beef with Brandy in a recent “HuffPost Live” interview, saying, “It started off as brilliant marketing and what started to happen was people started creating these skits and then our fans divided and it became this really real thing.”

However, she maintained that she and Brandy are on great terms now.

“It’s great because we know that, even as different as we are, we know that there’s room for both of us. We’re not competing with each other,” she said.

But Brandy’s not the only frenemie that Monica discussed on “The Breakfast Club.” See what she had to say about rumored beefs between her and Keyshia Cole and Ciara, after the cut.
