Like most men, Nick Cannon fawned over superstar singer Mariah Carey for years when he was a youngster. And, much to his surprise, he actually caught the woman of his dreams when he wed the singer in 2008. However, Cannon’s romantic dreams came crashing down early last year when he filed for divorce from Carey in January 2015. Since then, Carey has moved on to a new man, James Packer, but is Cannon ready to settle down with another woman?
In a new interview with DuJour magazine, Cannon talks about life after divorce and explains that he has no plans of ever getting married again.
“I feel like marriage isn’t for everyone,” Cannon revealed. “A friend of mine put it the funniest way. He said, ‘If you heard that there was a 50/50 chance of living or dying when you jump out of a plane, you probably wouldn’t go skydiving.”
He adds, “There’s like a 50/50 chance of a marriage working. If it didn’t work out for you the first time, and you still survived it, you probably shouldn’t do it again.”
When asked directly if he’ll ever jump the broom again, Cannon replies, “I highly doubt it.”
Cannon, who is the father of 4-year-old twins with Carey, claims that he’s still open to falling in love again, but he admits that he has issues with being vulnerable with women.
“I’ve rarely let people that close to me. A lot of it comes with me having trust issues,” he says. “I’ve been that way since grade school. I don’t trust many people. Who knows where I’ll be when I’m 60. At 35, I’m not even looking to be in a relationship.”
Well, it’s good that Cannon is being honest with himself about what he wants in his life and there are many other people who feel the way he does.
