Steve McNair/Tennessee Titans
Steve McNair played in Super Bowl 34 as quarterback for the Tennessee Titans when the team played the St. Louis Rams. The Rams defeated the Titans in a score of 23-16. Although his team lost, the appearance of another Black quarterback in the Super Bowl was historic. On July 4, 2009, McNair was fatally shot by his mistress, Sahel Kazemi, in a murder–suicide.
