Super Bowl weekend has become a time for celebrities and rappers to party and enjoy the festivities of football. But for Snoop Dogg, Super Bowl weekend is a time to party and give back to the youth.

Snoop Dogg has become an intricate figure in youth sports. The Snoop Dogg Youth Football League continues to keep troubled youth off of the streets while serving as a path for college and the NFL. Since Snoop created the league in 2005, over 1,500 kids have participated. Each kid who participates can play for free when they maintain a 3.0 grade point average in school. Three players have made it to the NFL, including Ronnie Hillman who will play in the Super Bowl as a member of the Denver Broncos.

One day before Super Bowl 50, Snoop Dogg held his annual Snooper Bowl in the Bay Area. The 12-and-under Snoop Dogg All-Stars took on the Bay Area All-Stars. Held at San Jose City College football field, the closely contested game ended with a score of 28-22 in favor of Snoop Dogg’s team. But beyond the game, the kids who played also received valuable lessons in life.

After the game, players from each team formed a huddle to pray and hear wise words from their coaches and mentors. Snoop Dogg spoke with each team and gave them advice on how to stay focused when faced with adversity.

“We all played hard,” Snoop told the players. “We want you all to know that this is what football is all about. We’re here to get you use to the next level. Because there will always be people who will try to take you out of your game. But stay focused and stay in your game. Never let anyone take you out of your game.”
