The remake of Roots is set to premiere on Memorial Day. The History Channel production featuring Forest Whitaker, T.I. and Laurence Fishburne promises to be memorable.  Co-executive producer Levar Burton states, “Nearly 40 years ago I had the privilege to be a part of an epic television event that started an important conversation in America.”

Good to keep this alive. Let all people see the impact of white supremacy on Africa, and the impact slavery had on building this country. Let’s not give in to the attempt to revise history to favor those guilty of this horrendous act.

In every episode of the original Roots and Roots II, there was always at least one sympathetic white character. Think they’ll do that with the remake?
